So let me get this straight. Convicted felon Sandy Berger, who stole classified documents from the national archives, is now part of the "Hillary for President" campaign, and the media apparently doesn't care? Yet we are to believe the media is unbiased in covering the race for the presidency? Maybe Scooter Libby should join the Rudy Giuliani campaign, and let's see what happens.
Each day the willingness of the media to pitch a Hillary presidency grows clearer. The articles on Hillary are written as if she has never done anything other than feed the hungry, clothe the naked and heal the sick. Saint Hillary will soon save the world from all that is evil – especially Mr. Bush who, if you've been listening to the left, is responsible for every problem in the world, including natural disasters.
However, some of us with half of a brain can remember a much different Hillary. One who has a halo with a few more nicks and dents than her media shills would like to admit. To save you some time, I compiled a short list of Hillary's escapades that may bring more clarity to who she is versus the Mother Teresa version the media is trying to sell. The list is a whole lot longer, but these were just a few that came to mind.
**Insider Trading: Hillary is apparently the world's No. 1 cattle futures trader. She waved her magic trading wand and made $100,000 literally overnight. Even though everyone else would need $12,000 to buy 10 futures contracts, Hillary somehow got 10 with $6,300, at least according to the trade records. Yet, at the time of the trade, she had only $1,000 in her account. But hey, why ask her about it? Hillary is a saint, remember?
**Ignoring Juanita Broaddrick's, Gennifer Flowers', Paula Jones' and Kathleen Willey's claims that Bill Clinton had raped, molested and sexually molested them. But wait, isn't she an advocate for women's rights? Mother Hillary kept secrets much like a good saintly girl, while actively working to destroy the reputations of the "bimbos" that kept erupting during her husband's presidency.
**Misplacing files: Hillary, being the perfect White House housewife, tended to lose things, even files in Vince Foster's office. Those files mysteriously reappeared after being AWOL during the entire investigation of Madison Guaranty and Whitewater. Those pesky little files can be so sneaky, can't they Hillary?
**Selling pardons: The FALN terrorists and the fugitive Marc Rich thought it was a heck of a deal. Some people might have a problem taking donations from terrorists and felons – not old Hillary. She is there to help the outcasts of our society because she identifies with the less fortunate. Terrorists and felons who renounce their country are people in Hillary's world.
**Selling secrets: Hillary has tremendous foreign affairs experience. She and Bill raised millions from Johnny Chung, Charlie Trie, Wang Jun, Gen. Ji, James Riady and the Lippo Group, all while under the watchful eye of Attorney General Janet Reno. Talk about an attorney of the president and not the people! Much of the money raised had questionable ties to the Chinese government and the sale of sensitive secrets to the Chinese on missile technology. Her foreign affairs activities continue even to this date as Hillary gave back $850,000 in campaign contributions from fugitive-at-large, Norman Hsu. He was one of the "Hill raisers." Lovely pictures of the two of them arm-in-arm. I guess old habits are hard to break for Hillary.
We will not see friends of Hillary in the media spending any amount of print space or airtime dissecting her record. She has been coronated the next queen of the United States by the media. While any journalist worthy of their degree would be writing about the inconsistencies and contradictions of a candidate running for the highest office in the land, it will not happen with Hillary. She is hands off, and it shows like a cheap suit.
When the watchdog of society has turned a blind eye to the actions of someone as important as a presidential candidate, the watchdog has failed. The watchdog can no longer be trusted to guard the yard.
The addition of Sandy Berger to the Hillary campaign in any capacity should have the media asking questions of Hillary and her advisers Howard Wolfson and Patti Solis Doyle. If Sandy Berger was the new janitor at the campaign headquarters, the media should be asking why. Yet not a soul in the media has given it a second thought. Sandy is a good soldier in the Clinton army – a man who is willing to break the law to keep the fine Clinton name unsullied. Even if it means the theft and subsequent destruction of sensitive documents that may well have shed light on the most horrific attack on American soil.
But there is good news in all of this. I believe the media has overplayed their arrogant and biased hand. They are counting on the public believing their clearly pro-Hillary reporting during this campaign process. "Hillary can do no wrong" appears to be the unspoken word in news rooms across America. I have yet to hear one journalist ask Hillary a question that would demand a yes or no answer. Not one question about her well-documented and questionable activities both in and out of the White House.
Hillary appears too good to be true. When it's too good to be true, most people know, it usual is. That is the flaw in the media strategy to get Hillary elected. Most people know better. They see all these glowing reports about Hillary and her people, and they intuitively know something doesn't fit. That will hurt Hillary when real Americans get ready to pull the lever in the voting booth.
One can only hope the challengers to Hillary will do what the media is either unwilling or refuses to do. They must hold Hillary accountable for her previous conduct and ask how it may impact future conduct in the unthinkable event she was elected president. To let Hillary go unchallenged would be as crazy as allowing Sandy Berger to hold any job requiring public trust. Then again, Bill and Hillary don't need your trust do they? They are the Clintons, and that appears to be sufficient enough to please the press. The Clintons are banking on Americans to do the same.
