CLINTON EMBOLDENED AL-QAIDA

For the life of me I cannot understand why liberals still get away with their baseless, nonsensical assertions that over time prove false. But they do. And the far left continues to follow, like mindless robots, an ideology that is harming America and placing us in greater danger every day.

When the screams from the left called for the closing of Gitmo, Barack Obama and other lefties heard them loud and clear. They committed to closing a well-operated detention facility because it was dubbed by the left as al-Qaida's strongest tool of recruitment for young jihadists.

In their minds, the "torture" meted out by the CIA was spurring growth among the ranks of suicide bombers. Therefore, the enhanced interrogation methods, proven highly effective in preventing future attacks, must be stopped. The reason? It would provide Osama bin Laden a "recruiting tool."

What a joke!

The single most effective recruiting tool al-Qaida possesses springs eternal from Democrats. It is the misguided appeasers who subscribe to the foolish notion that if we are nice to the enemy they will love us. It started under Bill Clinton.

In 1993, six people died in the World Trade Center bombing. Then president Bill Clinton's response? Nothing.

In 1996, 168 were killed (19 of whom were children) in the Khobar Towers U.S. military complex in Saudi Arabia. The response? Nothing.

In 1998, 244 were murdered in Nairobi, Kenya, and Tanzania at two U.S. embassies. Mr. Clinton responds once again with nothing.

In 2000, 17 U.S. sailors were executed on the USS Cole in Yemen. The leader of the free world responds with? Nothing.

That was the record under the watchful eye of William Jefferson Clinton. Short of a few words of condemnation toward al-Qaida, nothing else was done. Approximately 415 innocent men, women and children died at the hands of Islamic terrorists, with countless thousands injured. Four ruthless, Islam-inspired terrorist attacks targeted at Americans are met only with words.

The blood-thirsty Osama bin Laden lets his recruiters know that America, under Democratic leadership, will do nothing in response to the murder of its citizens. When inductees strap on the vest and blow themselves up, there will be no retaliation. There will be no effect on al-Qaida or Taliban citizens and families. America's response under the modern-day Democrats will be some words, but nothing more. It's like paper tigers with no bite.

I am thoroughly convinced the lack of response under Mr. Clinton emboldened al-Qaida. Its ranks swelled with new members who believed Allah was going to destroy the "great Satan." With that confidence, they launched the devastating attack of Sept. 11. Almost 3,000 innocent victims in D.C., Pennsylvania and NYC.

But those attacks came when the cowboy from Crawford was running the show.

The response of President George W. Bush on Sept. 12, 2001, was clear and without waiver: "I can hear you! The rest of the world hears you! And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!" And hear they did.

Just 25 days later, on Oct. 7, 2001, Operation Enduring Freedom began as U.S. and British military forces attacked known al-Qaida and Taliban strongholds in Afghanistan. There were no speeches, no blaming America, no apologies, no appeasement – just action! It's the only answer the animals of al-Qaida and the Taliban understand.

Today, Barack Hussein Obama has picked up Clinton's torch of appeasement. While sitting in the Oval Office, he recently told Bob Woodward, "We can absorb a terrorist attack. We'll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever … we absorbed it, and we are stronger."

Is he crazy? Did he think about what he said? Apparently the teleprompter was broken.

Why would anyone taunt the enemy? Unless that person also plans to state that another attack on America will provoke an immediate and devastating response.

But there's no way this president would even think in such a fashion, no less act. And therein lies the problem in securing our freedom from terrorism. Just such an attitude from the Oval Office is the greatest recruitment tool Osama bin Laden could hope for. Under Mr. Obama, al-Qaeda will get Barack-style "diplomacy," but no actions of any consequence.

If that is not enough for the staunch, ideologically entrenched liberals to see what danger they are potentially in with Mr. Obama at the helm, let me offer another recent event that should seal the deal.

Last week Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stood in the U.N. General Assembly in his typical squirrelly, delusional style and proceeded to suggest that the U.S. government orchestrated the 9/11 attacks to prop up the "Zionist regime." He made these ludicrous and incendiary remarks steps away from Ground Zero.

He openly spit on the grave of nearly 3,000 innocent civilians, and it prompted our president to a level of indignation not heard from him, toward the Islamic world, until now. He called the remarks, "hurtful and inexcusable." Wow! That was powerful. Terrorists like Iran's whack-job leader have to be trembling in their sandals.

Mr. Obama's diplomatic overtures to Iran and the threat of sanctions have done and will do little to stop an ardent supporter of terrorism from obtaining nuclear weapons. Ahmadinejad just laughs all the way to nuclear armament because he knows Mr. Obama will do nothing to stop him and will require Israel to do the same. He knows Mr. Obama is all bark and no bite.

When an Islamic terrorist kills 12 people and wounds 31 at Fort Hood while screaming "Allahu akbar!" and our president cannot "speculate" on his motives, we are in trouble. This politically correct form of appeasement is going to get more people killed.

I fully expect another attack is coming. Then Mr. Obama and his beloved pastor can blame America, apologize for all our shortcomings and suggest we had it coming.

Mr. Obama should give a ring down to Crawford. Mr. Bush could educate the young child president about the proper use of U.S. military might. To quote Mr. Bush, "When I take action, I'm not going to fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt. It's going to be decisive."

Mr. Obama. The key word there is not camel, missile or tent. Those are nouns. Focus on the word decisive. That, Mr. President, is an action. Those truly speak louder and more effectively than words.
