AMERICA SPEAKS UP

Recent media coverage of Americans speaking up with their concerns about the proposed health care legislation finally removes any doubt that those on the hard Left side of the Democratic aisle hate anything that remotely resembles traditional America.

When Cindy Sheehan and Medea Benjamin protested the Bush administration, they were heralded as brave Americans who loved their country enough to speak truth to power. They were treated to a level of favorable coverage like we have never seen – coverage normally reserved for Mother Teresa or Rosa Parks.

But let 200, 300 hard-working, play-by-the-rules, taxpaying, law-abiding citizens voice their opinions about a government that has a deaf ear to the people and we hear words like "Nazis," "paid plants," "GOP operatives," "right-wing wackos" and worse spewing from the mouths of Democratic leadership in Congress. The ease in which they use such terms without any critical analysis by the press is very revealing.

The Left is all for free speech when it tears down our nation. But let that speech turn to cries for less government and more personal accountability in D.C., and the attacks ensue. Whether it's an 80-year-old grandmother or a young person fresh out of college, he or she becomes public enemy No. 1 under the Obama/Pelosi administration. They are soon the target of censure straight out of the book, "Rules for Radicals." Saul Alinsky would be so proud of his little protégés: isolate and demean the opposition.

Speaker Pelosi alleges citizens attending town halls and open forums are carrying swastikas. Where were they, Ms. Speaker? Show us. We would all like to see the video of the alleged skinheads you claim permeate the discussion. I have seen a few bald guys in the crowds but no skinheads Nancy. And yet she gets away with this without one word from the media.

Imagine if Speaker Hastert had made such claims during the Bush years.

Harry Reid scolds the protesters, accusing them of "sabotaging the Democratic process" in voicing their opinions. Apparently Harry has no clue what the democratic process is all about. Harry Reid doesn't want a democracy. He wants an autocracy where people sit down and shut up.

Our beloved president has the audacity to say, "I don't want the people who created this mess to do a lot of the talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess." He has to be kidding me. Sadly he is not. Quite to the contrary, he is dead serious – serious as the heart attack he is going to give health care in America, if allowed.

His administration has made it clear. It has no intention of addressing the concerns of citizens in an honest and open debate. That would be too American. Town halls are merely photo ops for Obama. He has no interest in anyone actually voicing their opinion. Now that people are using the town hall forum for its original intent, his administration is going to "punch back twice as hard." He refuses to be held accountable. He refuses to explain his program to America. His transparent and open administration stopped Jan. 22, 2009.

The level of arrogance and deception coming from this White House is nauseating. We the People have a say in where we go as a nation. Not only do we have a say, we are required to be involved. And it is the responsibility of leadership to lead, not dictate.

The American people are now involved. They are fully engaged, and the Democrats are terrified. Americans are not going to sit back while a group of thugs from Chicago takes over the country they love. Rahm Emmauel and Barack Obama may have been successful using bare knuckle tactics in Illinois, but it is not going to happen across this great land – not on this generation's watch.

I am very proud of America right now, very proud! We are proving "We the People" are the backbone that makes America the greatest nation on the face of the earth. The people will not allow any amount of intimidation from the Left to keep us from speaking our mind. In fact, the more we are attacked, the harder we will fight for what is right.

So this week I encourage you to go to a meeting. Make calls to your representatives. Join a group and unite with millions of other Americans. Your voice must be heard at the town halls and tea parties. We all have an obligation to get involved. Now is the time!

If you support the health care changes Obama and company are making, speak up and say so. If you don't, you need to speak as well. That is the democratic process. This could be a great learning lesson for old Harry. He will see firsthand just how real democracy functions.

The people want politicians who represent us, not repress and ignore us. We want them to embrace our will, not their own. We want leaders who put less trust in government and more trust in the people. The Left is all about "choice," so shouldn't the American people be entitled to choose their health care?

As the people reject her husband and his socialist agenda to fundamentally change America, I am sure we will soon hear from Michelle Obama and how her new-found pride for her country has been erased. She will characterize the voices as representations of the meanness she believes exists in our nation. I would not be surprised in the slightest if the Left stooped to claiming racism in the face of this open rejection of Obamacare.

Such an attack will not weaken our resolve. We are speaking up and speaking truth to power. We want answers, not rhetoric. We will not be told to shut up and sit down. And while the Left will try to demonize anyone who honestly attempts to hold D.C. accountable, we will not bend.

We are proud, we are getting loud and nothing is going to stop us.
